We are pleased to share that the LEGO Group has expanded its durable carbon removal portfolio with ClimeFi.
Building on the procurement round executed in 2024, the LEGO Group has continued its partnership with ClimeFi with new purchases across three separate durable pathways, including Biomass Geological Storage; Mineralisation; and Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal.
The purchases form part of the LEGO Group’s DKK 18 million commitment to four carbon removal projects in 2025: three durable carbon removal projects through ClimeFi, and one nature-based reforestation project in Mexico through Climate Impact Partners.
Annette Stube, Chief Sustainability Officer at the LEGO Group, said: “This purchase highlights our commitment to testing a broad range of credible pathways for nature and tech-based carbon removal. As the programme expands, it is helping to strengthen our understanding of different approaches and inform future decision-making on how carbon removal may complement our wider climate goals. While reducing emissions in our own operations remains our priority, this programme allows us to work with expert partners and contribute to solutions that may help scale effective climate action over time.”
Paolo Piffaretti, CEO and Co-Founder at ClimeFi, said: “We are pleased to grow our partnership with the LEGO Group through this latest carbon removal procurement round. This joint effort contributes to securing the market commitments needed to scale the industry to climate relevance.”
